The most widespread application for Hydromx® to date has been in reducing the cost of heating in offices and other commercial buildings. In an environment in which the heating hours and temperatures are tightly controlled and the internal and external temperatures monitored, it is a straight forward matter to demonstrate the reduction in energy usage and the cost benefits and carbon savings which result.
Measured savings in commercial buildings typically 25 – 30%, giving a payback of 1 to 4 years, depending on the usage of the building, the ambient temperature maintained and its rate of heat loss.The financial savings in a care home or hospital, for example, are much greater than those in an office, due to the hours of heating, number of days in use and the higher internal temperature which is maintained.
Major organisations which have reported this sort of saving include world-class boiler manufacturers Hamworthy Boilers, who gained an energy saving of 30% in their own offices and factory in gas fired boilers.
HBO Box Office in the USA achieved a 27.3% direct energy saving in a data centre cooling application plus a significant increase in free cooling capacity
The Royal London Hospital reported a 32% increase in run around coil efficiency in an AHU application.
